The main thing at the moment is checking over the demo fleet-kayaks, SUPS, paddles and safety kit.
Here are our top winter maintenance tips to keep your kayak in top shape.
Clean Thoroughly: Before storing your kayak, make sure to clean it thoroughly. Remove any dirt, sand, or saltwater residue. Use mild soap and water to give it a good scrub, and rinse well.
Inspect for Damage: Check your kayak for any signs of damage, such as cracks, deep scratches or worn-out parts. Addressing these issues now will save you time and hassle come spring. Decklines and bungees can weaken or loosen over time so it's important to check and replace these if necessary. Most kayaks need
Dry Completely: Moisture can lead to mold and mildew. Ensure your kayak is completely dry before storing it. Pay special attention to hatches and compartments. Store with hatch covers off.
Store Indoors or Covered: If possible, store your kayak indoors to protect it from the elements. If indoor storage isn't an option, use a durable cover/tarpaulin to shield it from rain, snow, and UV rays.
Proper Positioning: Store your kayak on its side or upside down, supported by padded bars or a rack.
Regular Checks: Even during the off-season, check on your kayak periodically. Ensure the storage area is dry and free from pests, and that the kayak remains in good condition.
Accessory Care: Don't forget about your gear! Clean and dry paddles, buoyancy aids and other accessories before storing them. Check for any signs of wear and tear.
By following these winter maintenance tips, you'll ensure your kit stays in excellent condition and is ready for more adventures when the warmer weather returns.
Once all the boats are sorted and checked over, we can tuck them away for the winter :)
